FAQs

Cancellations due to conditions

We continuously monitor the factors that could affect your surf lesson. If conditions are not favourable for a quality lesson, we will reschedule an alternative time with you, or offer a full refund where applicable.

When do lessons take place?

We take lessons in the mornings, which can begin as early as 5.30am and afternoon lessons from 3.00pm, avoiding peak sun hours.

At which location will the lesson take place?

There are more than ten surf spots around the Arugam Bay area, with most of the breaks located within 20 minutes by tuk tuk. Beginners usually start out at Peanut Farm or Baby Point.

Every morning we will do a surf check to decide which beaches to head to, taking into account the ability level of each group and the swell conditions. We aim to offer you the best conditions, whatever level of surfer you are.

How do I know what skill level I am?

Our instructors will assess your ability during your first session and then tailor it accordingly.

What if I need to amend my booking?

We will make every effort to arrange any changes you request after the booking has been confirmed, however, any changes to dates are subject to availability.

Is there a minimum age?

We welcome children of a minimum age of 5 years old. Children younger than 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all times and must be able to swim a minimum of 50 meters. Please let us know if you are booking for children.

What should I bring to lessons?

Bring swimwear, a change of clothes, a towel, flip flops, factor 30+ sunscreen, zinc oxide, and some water - and get ready to be happy!

What equipment is included?

We will provide you with a surfboard and a rash vest for the duration of your lesson.

Where can I store my belongings?

The surf spots are unattended, although periodically patrolled by Navy servicemen, local policemen and lifeguards. While it is generally fine to leave belongings in a fastened bag on the beach, we cannot guarantee it is 100% safe. Therefore, we advise clients not to bring any valuable possessions to their surf lesson. You are welcome to leave general belongings at our surf shop, where there will be a member of staff on-site.

Can I use my own board for intermediate surf lessons?

Yes, you are absolutely welcome to use your own board.

Are there any prerequisites for clients?

All clients should be reasonably fit and be able to swim a minimum of 50 metres in the sea. Any client with a heart condition, who is pregnant, or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication which may adversely affect their physical ability is not permitted to participate under any circumstance. All participants must agree to abide by the instructions and decisions made by the instructors to ensure their own and others’ safety.
